Stratton All Smiles As Election Day Nears

Lt. Governor Juliana Stratton, the Democratic nominee and heavy favorite to win a seat in the United States Senate Tuesday says Democrats are poised to make historic gains, both in Illinois and around the country.

Speaking to a group of Democrats in suburban Barrington Saturday afternoon, Stratton highlighted Democrats could pick up state House and Senate seats in traditionally Republican territory.

But, with odds in her party’s favor, Stratton says she doesn’t take anything for granted.

“I don’t think I speak in terms of confidence because these last three days are just as critical as the last 700 days. We have to get out there, make phone calls, get out the vote, and that’s going to make the difference,” she said. “I’m confident that people are motivated. We have to get out the vote and we’ll see what happens.”

When Stratton entered the Senate race in April of 2025, the chances Democrats would take the majority in the Senate didn’t seem plausible. Now, Democrats are discussing what they do first in January if they take the majorities in both chambers.

“Agenda number one is that there are a lot of people who have been stripped of their healthcare and food benefits and assistance because of the one big ugly bill,” she said. So we’re going to have to get in there and reverse some of those cuts to make sure that people have what they need to thrive.”
