Illinois Republican Party Chair Kathy Salvi sidestepped questions about her future in response to a story in The Illinoize this week that she had told multiple members of the state central committee she plans to resign.
“I am the Republican chair today, yesterday, in the last 13 months and I'll continue to lead as well as I have,” Salvi said. “We've done an amazing job.”
The non-denial, denial to the story only fueled speculation about Salvi’s future.
“I’m happy and proud to be Chairman of the Illinois Republican Party,” Salvi said after a follow up question.
Sources say Salvi is likely to attend next week’s RNC meeting in Atlanta and will resign the post before the end of the month.
(Thanks to the great Alex Degman of WBEZ for the audio of her media avail. I was on a phone call in the parking lot and missed Salvi’s gaggle. Oops.)
