Ted Dabrowski, a former Illinois Policy Institute staffer and President of the conservative “Wirepoints” media company confirmed Thursday he will enter the race for Governor “sometime soon.”
“What I’ve seen is the state continue to go downhill, sadly,” Dabrowski said, speaking to reporters outside of the Illinois GOP state central committee meeting Thursday. “We should be a top state for wages, for growth, for population, for business. But we’re a bottom five state. This is a big chance to turn things around.”
We’re told Dabrowski is trying to secure funding form suburban megadonor Richard Uihlein, but hasn’t yet been able to. Dabrowski deflected multiple questions on his relationship with Uihlein and if Uihlein had committed funding for the race.
Dabrowski says he doesn’t believe Donald Trump’s unpopularity, especially in the suburbs, should have any impact on the race.
“Illinois’ problems have nothing to do with Donald Trump,” he said. “He can’t fix the property taxes, the gas taxes, he can’t fix our outmigration. We have to fix it.”
