Here are the results as of Wednesday evening in some key Senate primaries around the state.

20th Senate District

Progressives rallied behind Graciela Guzman while Senate Democrats tried to prop up appointed incumbent Sen. Natalie Toro. Guzman won big in this northwest side district.

37th Senate District

Former Dixon Mayor Li Arellano defeated Henry County Board member Tim Yager and Dixon City Council member Chris Bishop in this sprawling district stretching across much of north-central and northwest Illinois.

53rd Senate District

Grundy County Board Chairman Chris Balkema, buoyed by around $75,000 in outside spending from the conservative group Americans for Prosperity, defeated three challengers to replace outgoing Sen. Tom Bennett (R-Gibson City). Farmer and Pontiac High School agriculture teacher Jesse Faber finished a distant second.

58th Senate District

Senator Terri Bryant (R-Murphysboro) survived a well-funded and slightly…odd…challenge from attorney and farmer Wesley Kash. She almost hit 70%.
