Salvi Faces Three-Way Race for GOP Chair

Illinois GOP Chair Kathy Salvi will face a three-way race to remain in her current position leading the party.
By Sunday’s deadline to apply for the GOP State Central Committee vote next Monday, Salvi drew two challengers. Former Kendall County Board Chairman and 2022 congressional candidate Scott Gryder and former DuPage County Auditor Bob Grogan, who was elected to the State Central Committee last month both applied for the post.
Salvi flirted with resignation last summer, but decided to remain in the post.
A fourth candidate, Lawrence Stowe, also applied for the position, but we’re told he has a felony conviction and won’t be considered for the gig.
Neither Salvi, Grogran, or Gryder returned messages from The Illinoize last Friday ahead of the application deadline.
One state central committee member described the race between the three as a “pure toss up.”
The GOP state central committee meets next Monday in Springfield.
