Pritzker Endorses Croke for Comptroller

In an expected move, Gov. JB Pritzker Monday endorsed Rep. Margaret Croke (D-Chicago), a former Pritzker staffer, for the Democratic nomination for State Comptroller.
Croke is one of four Democrats seeking to replace outgoing Comptroller Susana Mendoza, who is widely expected to launch a campaign for Chicago Mayor.
“Margaret Croke has always been committed to responsible fiscal management and improving the lives of hardworking Illinoisans,” Pritzker said in a statement released Monday. “Whether it’s advocating for job creation, reproductive rights, or the expansion of childcare, Margaret knows how to get things done. At a time when the Trump administration is playing politics with federal funding, we need a Comptroller who will not shy away from a fight and will lead with transparency and efficiency. That’s why I’m proud to support Margaret in her campaign.”
We’re told Pritzker is expected to back Croke with more financial resources, if necessary, in the final stretch in the Democratic race for Comptroller.
