House Democratic caucus is massively in favor of a budget deal presented to them in caucus Friday afternoon, multiple sources said.

We’re told total spending is similar to Governor JB Pritzker’s proposed $55.4 billion budget, but includes “some cuts.” Revenue figures were not made available.

Sources in the room say House budget negotiators Rep. Kam Buckner (D-Chicago) and Rep Eva-Dina Delgado (D-Chicago) “stuck the landing.”

“The Speaker put the most respected members of the caucus on the budget team,” one Democrat told me. “Everyone trusts they secured the best deal they could under challenging circumstances.”

Rep. Jay Hoffman (D-Swansea) predicted on the radio with us Friday morning the budget would come on under Gov. Pritzker's proposed $55.2 billion plan, but it isn't clear what the numbers look like just yet.

But, it appears the House won't be the hurdle to final passage it has the past couple of years.
