DeBose Withdraws from House Race

Sen. Don DeWitte (R-St. Charles).

Joe DeBose, the former spokesman for Darren Bailey’s 2022 gubernatorial campaign and political consultant, who was seen by many as the frontrunner in the race to replace Rep. Paul Jacobs (R-Pomona) in the southern Illinois-based 118th district, announced yesterday he’s withdrawing from the race.

DeBose said his wife was recently assaulted while working abroad and his consulting business is taking on new work with redistricting efforts around the country and said he’ll return his campaign donations.

Former radio host Scott Doody, Jackson County Board member Harold Visser, and military veteran Dayton Loyd remain in the GOP primary.
