Former Senator and 2022 GOP gubernatorial nominee Darren Bailey and Cook County GOP Chairman Aaron Del Mar met for hours Friday to discuss forming a ticket, source say. But the two sides have yet to reach an agreement.
Bailey has signaled in recent weeks that he’s interested in jumping into the race and sources say he has approached Del Mar, a 2022 Lt. Governor candidate and member of the Illinois GOP state central committee, about forming a ticket.
Our sources revealed little about the meeting, other than describing it as a “good meeting” that “went well.”
There’s no time frame on Bailey’s final decision to enter the race for Governor.
The two men were spotted posing for a picture together Friday night with Donald Trump, Jr., who attended a political event in suburban South Barrington.
